From The President.

On behalf of the Metro Detroit Association for the Education of Young Children Governing Board, I welcome you to our website. We are honored to be a continuing support and resource for early childhood professionals in the Metro Detroit area.

The MDAEYC board is committed to the well being of young children and their families, the MDAEYC membership and the communities we serve. MDAEYC is a 600 member Local Affiliate of both the State and National AEYC organization.

As such, we are part of a much larger community of Early Childhood educators, administrators and others serving young children in diverse ways. We look forward to continuing to serve you as you serve the families of our communities.

Sincerely,

Rhonda J. Meyers
President

Tips for Professional Development:

  • Seek out professional development opportunities based on your career goals. Set specific career goals for yourself and use these goals to guide the activities you participate in and when selecting professional development opportunities.
  • Leave with at least one item to take action on. Every professional development experience is different, whether it's a two day seminar, a two hour training or a webinar. No matter what the professional development opportunity is, make sure you walk away with at least one thing to do, and hold yourself accountable for doing it.
  • Meet at least one person.. Make it a priority to get to know someone in the room. Get their business card and remember their name. This will get easier and easier over time!

Tips for Networking:

  • Become active in professional associations. Be discerning. Attend a few meetings to determine the size and activity level of the chapter.
  • Have business cards made up to give to contacts.
